Sun/weather protection (hat, sunglasses, sleeves, sunblock etc)
Water, water and more water! Feel free to bring an energy bar or two as well.
Trekking poles may be useful to some on this hike.
 
Description

• The Upper Javelina Trail is a trail on the eastern end of the Tortolita Mountains that utilizes the Wild Burro trailhead located at the Ritz-Carlton at Dove Mountain. The hike starts up a sandy wash then turns north-west behind the Ritz into the Tortolita Mountains before exiting onto a road just west of the Ritz, and finishes with a walk up the road. The section of the hike in the mountains does have a number of elevation changes as the trail crosses a few small gorges.
• Length: 4 miles (loop)
• Elevation change: 850 feet
• Duration (including travel): 3.5-4 hours
