With all hikes, please review the distance and elevation gain to decide if this hike is right for you.
Please be prepared with the following:
Good hiking/trail shoes.
Sun/weather protection (hat, sunglasses, sleeves, sunblock etc)
Water, water and more water! Feel free to bring an energy bar or two as well.
Trekking poles may be useful to some on this hike.
Bring gloves for hand protection!
 
Description

  • Picacho Peak via Hunter Trail is a challenging hike. The distance is short, and the elevation change is steep. There are sections that require holding onto metal cables that have been bolted into the rock to assist as you kie up the rocks. The reward at the top is fantastic with 365 degree views of the desert ranging from Tucson to Casa Grande and from the Catalina Mountains to the (Arizona) Sawtooth Mountains. The sens of accomplishment is HIGH, and every ime you drive past Picacho on I-10, you can brag that you hiked to the top!

           Bring Gloves!

  • Elevation Change: 1,352 feet
  • Time (Including travel):3-4 hours
